Year 7 Transition
Use an experienced team of internationally successful Athlete Mentors, to guide your students through a program of fun, whilst learning life skills and developing relationships with their peers. Delivered through a mixture of challenging tasks and masterclasses in sport.
Confidence, Resilience and Determination to be your best, are three things we need to build success in our live’s and sometimes the three things missing in new year 7 students when starting their secondary school career. Ian Rose a former World Champion, European Champion and Double Paralympic Medallist at the sport of judo, has put together an experience day, aimed at helping your students improve in just these areas.
Working with the whole year group. Ian and his team provide targeted workshops aimed at:
• Improving Confidence.
• Highlighting the importance of good Communication.
• Developing Resilience when things get tough.
• Being Determined to be your best.
Open the day with a full year group assembly and move into a rotation of workshops, building on a different skill in each. Explore teamwork using time based challenges, build confidence trying a new sport and look at communication techniques using blind folds. Finally close the day working on goal setting and how to include their new skills in life moving forward.
Make this day even better by allowing Ian or one of his team, to share their story with your new Year 7’s before they even start at your school. Organise a time within the Year 6 taster days and inspire and motivate them to look forward to the big move.
All Athlete Mentors have their own story to tell. But all use the skills of Good Communication, Confidence Building, Determination to be their best and Resilience to reach the top in sport and life.
Build your program using the following options
Year 6 Taster Day
Begin the program before your Year 7’s even join your school, by allowing Ian or one of his team to meet and work with your future students. Calm their nerves at one of your Year 6 taster days and assist them with building confidence for the big move or to meet new friends. Run Inspiring workshops to challenge them and motivate them to look forward to the next chapter in their lives.
Year 7 Experience Day
An action packed day for all your new Year 7’s, beginning with a full year group assembly to meet the athlete mentors and moving into a rotation of practical, challenging workshops. Each workshop revolves around challenging the students to think about building one of the four major skills of Communication, Determination, Resilience or Confidence and include a split of challenging activities and masterclasses in sport. Close the day working on goal setting and how to include their new found skills in life moving forward.
Goal setting & teacher coaching CPD for the Year 7 teachers
Help your staff unlock their full potential by following our “Three Steps to Success” teacher coaching process, which assists with overcoming those bumps in the road or achieving goals and tasks, more efficiently and effectively than on your own. Then use your new found goal setting skills to aim for the best version of you that you can be and assist the Year 7 students to set Form Time Goals for the years ahead.
